Green Sea

Directed by Angeliki Antoniou, 2021 Greece, Germany 95 minutes
Rentals are limited — Book now

Food and love are the ingredients of a charming comic drama about a woman with no memory who starts a new life as a cook at a run-down seaside tavern.

When gruff owner Roula gives oddball Anna a job at his greasy spoon café he tells her not to broaden the fried food menu because “who needs a salad here?” It’s that kind of place. A few days later Anna’s whipping up mouth-watering meals and Roula’s telling his regulars “God sent her”. But who is Anna, and why does her food have such a powerful emotional effect on diners? And what about Kyriakos, a lovely old geezer who turns up out of nowhere and starts painting the joint? Angeliki Antoniou’s first narrative feature since the multi-award-winning Eduart (2006) is a most delightful dish.

Angeliki Antoniou has made shorts, documentaries and features in Greece and Germany. Her 2006 feature Eduart was Greece’s submission in the Foreign Language Oscar category.

After renting, the film will be available in your account to watch at any time during the Festival viewing window; from 12th November, 12 PM – 21st November, 11.59 PM.
